"A life without horses, is like taking a breath without air."
5L Ranch is a family owned and operated horse facility near Perham, MN. Raising mainly paints, 5L has been in the horse business for over 25 years. Louie became interested in horses later in his life and started out teaching himself about horses in his 30's. Years later the ranch has grown from two horses to upwards of 30!
Here at 5L we spend our days trail riding, training, grooming and caring for our four-legged friends. We also enjoy sharing our love and knowledge of horses with others.
Louie grew up just a half-mile from 5L ranch in a town called Luce, MN. He first became interested in horses so that he could take them on hunting trips in the mountains. It wasn't long before he realized he had a true passion for horses. He gathered as much knowledge about horses as he could and begain implementing the horsemanship methods of John Lyons and Pat Parelli.
It wasn't long before the family noticed he had a special way with horses. He could 'speak' to them in a way that was calm, gentle and respectful.
For over 20 years Louie has been active in the 4-H horse program to share his knowledge of horsemanship with kids and adults alike.
Lana began riding at age 5 when the family moved to the country. Growing up on the farm was a huge blessing for her as she was able to foster her love for animals and the outdoors.
Showing in 4-H for 13 year with her trusty Arabian, Beau, encouraged Lana to gain more knowledge about horsemanship while developing great friendships with fellow horse enthusiasts.
Watching her dad break and train many horses over the years has been nothing short of magic. Using his methods combined with those of renowned horsemen Craig Cameron and Chris Cox, Lana has trained several horses of her own. Her true passion lies in teaching horsemanship to riders of all levels and sharing the unspoken connection humankind can develop with our equine friends.
