The Hybrid Halter

I recently heard about the Hybrid Halter and I was intrigued enough to try one out. We have always used nylon halters until about 5 years ago when we starting using rope halters on training horses. This hybrid halter claims to be the best of both worlds offering the comfort and ease of a nylon halter on the poll and cheek and the control and pressure of a rope halter on the nose and chin. The element that piqued my interest most was the movable lead rope clip. This allows the lead rope to pull the halter without twisting it which made a lot of sense to me. So here is my review... Pros - I LOVE the moveable lead rope clip. I definitely feel like the horses respond faster to the sideways pull since it isn't twisting on the nose. It also helps so that the cheekband doesnt get too close to the eye. The look of the halter is really neat. I ordered a green and tan model and I think it looks really nice. It is also great quality all around. Cons - The halter can be a little tricky to get on since it turns inside out almost instantly when you take it off. I've been able to remedy this problem by keeping track of the buckle/tail sides of the poll band. I do wish the poll band could be rope instead of nylon to give a little more control on the head but I understand the reason that it is nylon - so that it is easier to attach. The price of the halter was about $60 when I ordered it which is a bit more than I'd like to spend. Overall I would recommend the halter. I think it is a great quality halter that looks nice and is definitely a step above a plain nylon or plain rope halter. Come on out and try it on your horse and don't forget to check out the video on Kalley's website to learn more about it. http://shop.horseeducation.com/hybrid-halter/
